About Asha

Asha has been passionate about community and belonging for over 15 years. She became involved in community engagement, leadership, and mentorship at school and the community. She pursued a Bachelor of Honours in Political Science from York University to further her passion, followed by a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Guelph. 

Asha has a keen appreciation for intersectional and interdisciplinary theory and application. She has led and supported several projects focused on racial equity, well-being, community engagement, and belonging. She completed her Master of Education in Adult Education and Community Development at the University of Toronto with a Collaborative Specialization in Workplace Learning and Social Change. 

Asha has worked with local organizations, providing services for board policy reviews, leading large-scale environmental assessments, facilitating capacity and focus group sessions, and updating a sector-wide anti-racism and anti-oppression policy

Asha has also travelled internationally to support an experiential learning program in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, through the University of Guelph and a literacy camp, Camp Power to Be, with Power to Be International.

Asha is also a twice-certified 200-HR yoga teacher through Power Yoga Canada and Angeli Yoga Teaching Academy, Prenatal Yoga (Power Yoga Canada), and has trained in somatics (Levels I, II, III), ASIST Suicide Prevention Training and Doula level 1.

Asha currently sits as a Board Member for The Pine Project in Toronto.
